Jennie Benjamins
Jennie is a Registered Psychotherapist. She transitioned from a career in communications and association management to focus on her passion for working with people. Her past experience emphasized the power of words and its effects on a person, as well as the positive impacts a safe, nonjudgmental space can provide to an individual.
She recognizes life can be unpredictable and overwhelming, and it helps to have a place to explore and find meaning or insight. Her approach in therapy is client-focused, guided by the values of compassion, curiosity, humor and gentleness. Jennie’s therapeutic approach draws upon Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic modality, combined with interventions from Mindfulness Therapy.
Her goal in therapy is to understand the client’s story and narrative. To collaboratively work with the client to gain insight, clarity or achieve a specific goal. She believes each person possesses the strengths and insights to positively move forward. Areas of focus are anxiety, depression, confidence, life transitions as well as building and maintaining relationships.
Outside of work Jennie can be found walking and listening to music. She is a tea enthusiast, who enjoys yoga, reading and spending time with friends and family. She is currently on a personal journey to find a new hobby.
Jennie sees individual teens, adults & parents as well as families & couples.
Jennie practises at our Runnymede & Bloor location.
