Apitha Rathakrishnan
Apitha is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who joins us as a student therapist from Yorkville University. She understands the significance of creating a welcoming atmosphere for clients, so they feel safe and comfortable. She is committed to provide a non-judgemental environment where clients feel heard and understood, so they can be their true selves and explore their desires and needs. Apitha aims to support clients as they build self-awareness, and coping skills to help navigate life’s challenges.
Apitha utilizes various modalities, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Apitha's approach to therapy is client-centered with a focus on the client feeling seen and heard.
Apitha enjoys spending time with family and friends. She enjoys sightseeing, going for walks, and watching the sunset and rises; there’s something so calming and beautiful about those moments.
Apitha is also able to offer therapy in Tamil.
Apitha sees individual teens & adults as well as families.
Apitha practises at our Runnymede & Bloor location.
Please note that Apitha will be with us until April. If you get to that point when Apitha is done and you want to continue with therapy, don’t stress. We’ll have another student ready for you at that time and you’ll be able to continue on with low fee counselling. Most of our clients are feeling comfortable with their new student therapist within one or two sessions.
